The 101 of the history of the alpine skiing

Now, when we wake up, the outside is supplied of little snowflakes. That means my favorite time of the year is coming. The hot summer days can finally switch for the cold sunny days of the winter. This season allows to practice a lot of great sports, like the alpine skiing. It’s fascinating me how someone things that two boards hung at some boots can be so fun. That’s why I have been interested in the history of the alpine skiing.

First of all, the alpine skiing was for the Nordic country, a transportation and was also used to fight or to hunt. That was in 5 000 years before Jesus-Christ. The Swiss, the Austrian and the British were the first to make this activity a real sport. A few years later, the American start to practice this sport. The Quebec is one of the most important province of Canada in the ski history. It was a teacher from McGill who was the first American to ski. From then now, a lot of people was skiing with super long skis everywhere in Quebec. This sport takes importance in the 20thcentury, like the first chair lift was in 1932. The race for men has also started at this time. It was only in 1935 that the first competition of women happened. In 1941, the patrols take place in every station of ski. Since these years, a lot of things have been created, like the superficial snow gun and the parabolic skis. These creations allowed the ski to develop as we know it today.

Finally, this sport has been part of my life for so long now and I can make a clear idea of how we developed these technologies and ski technique.
